Amahl and the Night Visitors

Amahl and the Night Visitors

Above is the link to our shows' web page. So this is the show I am currently doing at North Park Covenant Church. It may be a church play, but this is a beautiful 20th Century opera. The opera is about The Three Kings on their way to Bethlehem to visit the Christ Child. They stop at a small house where Amahl, a crippled boy, and his widowed mother live. There is wonderful music, dancing and some awesome fight choreography.
I was asked in December to come on board and play the role of the Page. I service the kings. I do all the heavy lifting, bending and parrot keeping. I only sing twice, but I did get to choreograph a fight scene with myself and two other actors. I love that this role is largely physical. Some of my favorite parts have been the ones where I have few or no lines, as it forces me to become all the more present and committed in the moment.
Our director is the lovely and talented Linden Christ, with Charles Olson, David Schlensger, and Brian Ward as the Kings. Amahl is played by twins Ian and Camile Smith.
The important details are all on the website. February 11th and 12th at North Park Covenant Church. Call the office for reservations today!
